Forest Quest - An Adventure in Ecclesall Woods

Sheffield Young Explorers presents FOREST QUEST

Our once-a-year woodland adventure!

Get ready to swap screens for the great outdoors and experience an unforgettable adventure in the heart of Ecclesall Woods!

Designed for young adventurers aged 7–15 years, Forest Quest is a special outdoor experience packed with exploration, practical skills, nature discovery and exciting woodland challenges. It’s an opportunity for children and young people to step outside their everyday routine, try something different and discover just how much fun the outdoors can be.

Taking place at the Woodland Discovery Centre, Ecclesall Woods, the experience will be led by a qualified nature facilitator, supporting participants to safely explore the woodland while developing new skills, confidence, independence and teamwork.

🌿 The Forest Quest Adventure

Throughout the session, young explorers will take part in a variety of hands-on woodland activities, which may include:

• 🌲 Den Building – work together to design and construct woodland shelters using natural materials found in the forest.
• 🔥 Campfire Skills – discover the basics of campfire safety and develop practical outdoor skills in a safe and supervised environment.
• 🧭 Woodland Exploration & Navigation – put your sense of direction to the test while navigating the woods and completing exciting challenges.
• 🍂 Nature Hunts – search, investigate and discover the trees, plants, wildlife and hidden treasures found throughout Ecclesall Woods.
• 🏕️ Outdoor Survival Challenges – work as a team, solve problems and put practical skills to the test through fun woodland challenges.
• 🌳 Nature Discovery – get closer to the natural world, learn about the woodland environment and discover how we can protect and care for our green spaces.

🍁 Adventure. Explore. Discover.

Forest Quest is about much more than spending a day in the woods. Young people will have the freedom to explore, get muddy, take on challenges, learn practical outdoor skills, build confidence and make new friends in a safe and welcoming environment.

🥪 Buffet lunch will be provided for all participants, giving our young explorers a chance to refuel after their woodland adventures.

👋 This is a drop-off only session. Parents/carers will need to bring their child to the designated meeting point and return to collect them at the end of the session.

Whether they are already a budding outdoor adventurer or experiencing woodland activities for the very first time, Forest Quest is a chance to make memories, discover new abilities and experience the magic of the outdoors.

🌲 One woodland. One adventure. One unforgettable Forest Quest. 🔥🧭🍂
