NextGen Innovators Club – Monthly STEM Workshops

Our popular NextGen Innovators STEM sessions are back! Sheffield Young Explorers, in partnership with STEAMWORKS and supported by BBC Children in Need, is excited to bring children a full programme of fun, practical and engaging monthly STEM workshops.

Designed for children aged 7–13 years, NextGen Innovators is perfect for children who are curious about how things work, love solving problems, experimenting, building, designing or simply being creative!

Throughout the programme, children will explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths through exciting hands-on activities, experiments, team challenges and real-world projects. We want children to experience STEM in a fun and accessible way – encouraging them to ask questions, test their ideas, problem-solve and discover new skills.

Each month will bring something different, giving children the opportunity to develop their creativity, confidence, teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills, while making new friends in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment.

All regular sessions will take place from 5:00pm–7:00pm at Christ Church, Station Road, Sheffield, S9 4JT.

🌙 Special STEM Session & Iftar – Friday 26th February

Our February workshop will be a special STEM Session & Iftar to mark Ramadan. Children will still enjoy a full STEM workshop with exciting activities and challenges, followed by an opportunity for everyone to come together to break their fast and enjoy an Iftar meal.

Further information and timings for the February session will be shared with registered families closer to the date.

Please note that this programme is BLOCK BOOKING ONLY. Individual sessions cannot be booked separately.

When you register, you are securing your child's place for the full 10-session programme from September to June, including our special STEM Session & Iftar on Friday 26th February.

As spaces are limited, please check all of the programme dates before registering. We ask families to only book if their child can make a genuine commitment to attending the monthly sessions regularly.

The programme has been designed as a journey rather than a series of one-off workshops. Regular attendance will allow children to build on their learning, develop new skills, grow in confidence and form friendships throughout the year.

🔬 What Can Children Expect?

Children can look forward to a varied programme of hands-on experiments, engineering and building challenges, technology activities, creative STEM projects, problem-solving tasks and team challenges.

The focus is not simply on learning – we want children to have the freedom to experiment, investigate, create, make mistakes, try again and have fun!

Some sessions will also include arts and crafts and STEM activities to take home, allowing children to continue exploring and creating beyond the workshop.

A light dinner will be provided at each regular session, with an Iftar meal provided during our special February session.
